Manitoba / Ontario Regional Manager
Mrs. Tanis Wood started working with GPI in 2005 as a Program Coordinator, graduating to the role of Manitoba Regional Manager in 2007. She has worked with 19 schools in Manitoba & Kenora, Ontario, and has helped place over 175 students in Canadian homestays in her region. Working with her PCs, Tanis ensures her students enjoy their experiences in Manitoba & Kenora, despite the sometimes challenging realities of a harsh climate and living in a rural community. She’s proud of her students for embracing the activities and experiences their communities and schools have to offer, and for becoming active members of their communities – enriching both their own experience as well as the lives of local residents.
Mrs. Wood earned a Business Communication certificate and has an extensive background in customer service, as well a TESOL certificate. In her free time, Tanis manages the GPI monthly newsletter, actively practices yoga, and is currently studying the ancient art of Qi gong. She is married, has 4 children aged 4, 7, 11, and 12, as well as 2 dogs, all of which keep her very active. She enjoys taking her dogs for long walks each day, and being out in nature as much as possible with her children doing such activities as tobogganing, skating, swimming, and biking.
Tanis embraces the GPI mission, and thoroughly enjoys meeting all the students who come to study in Manitoba, supporting them as they grow in English proficiency and maturity. She strives to give the best care and assistance she can to each student in her region, ensuring they have a positive intercultural and educational experience. Tanis looks forward to assisting many more students in having the learning adventure of a lifetime in friendly Manitoba!
